The European Astro*Carto*Graphy Association is honoured to recognise Karen McCauley as its first Honorary Member.
For many students and practitioners of Astro*Carto*Graphy, Karen McCauley represents a steady and enduring presence within the field. Her contribution has unfolded quietly over decades through education, editorial work and the careful stewardship of certification and professional standards.
Karen holds an M.A. in Educational Psychology from UCLA and served as Director of Education at Kepler College from 2011 to 2021, where she helped guide generations of students entering astrology and locational studies. Her earlier work included teaching through Aquarius Workshops and serving as editor and producer of ASPECTS Magazine, contributing to astrology’s educational and publishing landscape during an important period of modern development.
Her work, however, extends beyond education alone.
As President of Continuum and Operations Manager of the Jim Lewis Slayden Foundation, Karen McCauley has played a central role in preserving the certifying and educational framework established within the Jim Lewis lineage following his passing. Through Continuum, the authorised certifying body for Astro*Carto*Graphy, she has helped ensure that the technique continued to be transmitted with care, consistency and professional integrity.
Within Astro*Carto*Graphy, some roles exist largely beyond public visibility. Their value is measured less through prominence than through continuity, reliability and service to the discipline itself. Karen McCauley’s contribution belongs to this tradition.
The EAA recognises these contributions with deep respect.
Her appointment as the Association’s first Honorary Member acknowledges not only decades of educational and institutional work, but also a shared commitment to the preservation and responsible transmission of Astro*Carto*Graphy for future generations.
